Healthy Girl: September Y’all!

Here we are in a fresh new month.  We’re keeping our summer mojo going no matter what that voice in the back of your head is saying to you!

Don’t let your health fall behind this month.

Last month I blogged all about making August count.  Well that just means September has to count even more!

Embrace falling temperatures.

Apres Midi Dautomne
This is more like October around here…wait no maybe November…

If you live south of the Mason Dixon like me then that’s a joke!  Y’all it’s still in the nineties here and will be a for a few weeks.

I cannot preach to you how important it is to get outside and walk (even in the balmy temps you are so used to by now!)  If you live in a northern climate that may be getting a bit cooler then you have no excuse to not stretch those legs in a walk, jog, or run!  Do it.  Your body needs it.

Your body needs that last kiss of summer that comes from the sun.  Let the Vitamin D in!  You will miss these days in a few months when the sunshine is short and the cold is long.

Up your workout game.

A HIIT workout is a great way to burn calories and fat while building muscle - but what exactly IS a HIIT workout?
I WAS SO EXCITED TO BE EMAILED THIS!  Make your own HIIT workout you can pick and make your own and get your own play list going.  You can so do this!

Maybe your schedule is growing tighter by the minute.  If so there’s a work out for that!

HIIT – High Intensity Interval Training is the way to go my busy gals and guys!  Get in a thirty minute HIIT exercise (try Sprint, Metabolic, CX Works, a tabata style work out, or any training that has HIIT in front of it) to get a workout that will push you to your maximum and leave you feeling amazing.

Be mindful of that pumpkin goodness.

Andrea…I love you, sister!

When Sixbucks…my name for Starbucks…decided that 8/28 was their start to autumn the lines were wrapped around the building for the PSL.

Watch yourselves!  The pumpkin spice life may be tasty but if you’re not careful all that baked and drink goodness will mount up in areas known as hips, gut, and thighs!

Embrace the baker’s palate but embrace the burn from a good work out to balance it all out.

This month on the blog.

My goals this month are to inspire you with some recipes and work outs!  You asked me for recipes and I will gladly gift them to you!  I promise to add in some pumpkin too.

  2. We all need that last little bit of summer. I hold on to it as tight as I can. I am not even ready to pretend that it is fall yet…but I will drink some pumpkin spice. I want to get outside as much as possible before the weather turns!

  3. For me it’s the pumpkin beer I have to worry about…ha!! I walk everywhere and when the temps are this high I just way to myself “your losing pounds just by all the sweating! Sad thing is, I walk most times, to actually get somewhere, which when sweating so much is not attractive!! LOL

    1. But the cool party about walking in high heat and humidity is that your body works over time to keep your temperature regulated and that means your metabolism is boosted so you get a tiny bit more of a caloric burn! I wish I lived in a more urban place so I could walk and not have to pay the petro companies an arm, leg, and ear! xo

  4. I can’t wait to be able to walk outside again and actually enjoy the cooler temps. Wayne and I have been spending the summer walking inside our nearby college colusiem, but you’re right! Nothing beats getting some Vitamin D!
