Stuff I Love

vie joyeuse

*Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say, It is well, it is well, with my soul.* And Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight, The clouds be rolled back as a scroll; The trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend, Even so, it is well with my soul.

Let’s talk joy.

This week I am aware of the joy in….

*Having healthy kiddos.  There is a family in our community who are hoping to find some answers as to why their one year old has began seizing.  This is becoming quite the long process for them.  Each day I read the update and I pray for Baby S and her mom and dad.  Our kids can grind our nerves, have us question our sanity, and cause us to pour an extra glass of wine – but we have to acknoweledge the blessing of good health and be thankful and see the joy.

qualitytime

*My husband sat down and fell asleep beside me.  I know this sounds like something very non joyful.  What you may not know is that I rarely get much of his time between his work and his projects.  My love language is quality time and though I had thought we established all that years ago at a marriage retreat it is true that males can forget ahem.  So the fact that I got thirty minutes of him being around me (ignore the unconscious part haha) I did get a little time being around him.  Later in the week we spent more time together thanks to our daughter’s basketball game.

*Thank yous.  This week was the week I returned to my regular work schedule.  I am thankful for such sweet clients.  The little surprise texts of “Thank you so much – the house is amazing,” put big, cheesin’ grins on my face.  I love that I can help these busy mamas out and take a load off of them.  Would it be weird if I hired someone to come do that for me?

*Cheap coffee.  I never say that.  However, this week I was in that place I kinda love (Walmart, OK?) and they had their Great Value K-Cups in three packs for a buck.  I was like, ewwww.  I can be a coffee snob.  But I like cheap so I grabbed three different little boxes – French, Breakfast Blend, and Donut Shop.  I like bold coffee and I’m not going to lie I put the French Roast in the Keurig and thought here goes nothing.  So I was pleasantly surprised when I took a sip and liked it!

*Harper B. loves big hugs.  He is always asking me to give him big hugs.  #joy

*Cammy B started doing her chores without me hounding her.  It feels so good to know I am doing something mama-right.  Her laughter Saturday night while she was Skyping some friends was bubbling over like a tea kettle.  The kind of laughter that makes you start laughing too.

*My bestie and I have a bond that is pretty freaking strong.  We have done nearly everything together – college, marriage, babies, houses, jobs, and now being married over a decade and all the fun things that come with having kids that are not babies and husbands that are just plain weird.  Our daily conversations are true sources of joy.

*The fresh flowers from last week – the tulips – have bloomed!  We had a seventy degree day!

*My lovely hairdresser.  I can wake up and my hair will look like a mixture of 1975 Dolly Parton and matted poodle.  On Friday my Lizz took embraced my insane hair and we set the body free in a good way.  All along the journey of the hair appointment she had me cracking up and was just straight joy for my Friday.

Now…comment some joy from your week!

  1. I absolutely love and adore this post. Such sweet, simple things to find joy in. I love when my husband and I sit down at the end of the day together for some time. Even if he falls asleep, we are still together. I hope you have a great week ahead!
