Yay for Hello Fresh this week. I thought I would share with you the meals we are churning out in our kitchen thanks to our favorite and inexpensive fresh food delivery love truck. This part of my Get Your Ass In Gear week!
When Steak Met Potatoes
OK guys this looks freaking delicious, right? Vegetarians and vegans you can remain mum on that meat and just fall in love over the potatoes for some of you and both for the others.
Is this a healthy option? Yes and no. The good part of Hello Fresh is that it is proportioned correctly so though red meat is not necessarily a friend of the heart and arteries I feel confident that I will not go overboard when I devour this prime cut of meat. Leafy green vegetables are always a winner and with this steak there is creamed kale. I do want to state I generally hate kale so I’m excited to try this. Then you have the gold potatoes. Anti sugar friends: I see you cringe. However, I will partake and this is why. This plate holds three REAL foods. There isn’t any food on this plate that isn’t proportionally heavy towards carbs – it is balanced! Balance is what we are looking for in a good nutrition plan.
Sugar Rubbed Pork Chops
I like pork. I really like pork chops…the other white meat. This week they will be served up on a bed of root vegetables and I couldn’t be more excited. Mustard Breaded Chicken Thighs
Are you loving the proportional plate or what? Protein, vegetable, and carb of correct percentages on each and every plate – that is pretty beautiful! This is the dish I am most excited about because sweet potatoes are my happy food. Remember to always choose the good ole orange tater over any other color! Your leafy green is Brussel sprouts. Traditionally, I am not a fan but I’m open to trying them again. I have found things I do not regularly care for I am a huge fan of with the recipes that come with our Hello Fresh meals Maybe they just get me?

Monday – Blueberry Bagel with cream cheese
Tuesday – Banana & Protein Shake
Wednesday – Scrambled egg and whole grain toast, yogurt
Thursday – Protein shake & banana
Friday – Another shake & banana
Why the shakes? I have some I need to use up. I like the coffee infused Atkins ones!
Speaking of coffee – I’m on a mission to cut back. I was taking in about seven cups a day and guess what that led to? Increased chances of urinary tract infections and heart palpitations. Eeeek! So my goal is two cups a day no more and for sure no less.
Monday – Green leaf lettuce salad with boiled egg
Tuesday – Ham sandwich on whole wheat toast with green leaf lettuce, tomato, and mustard
Wednesday – Tomatoes, cheese, and cucumber salad with some tortilla chips and salsa
Thursday – Out
Friday – PB&J…..for real.
Peanut Butter and Jelly makes me so happy and it is one thing I can continue to love since I use natural peanut butter, limit to jelly, and always use whole wheat bread!
